Community Hospital Meditation Garden
As part of ongoing work with Community Hospital a former loading dock was transformed into a peaceful meditation garden for visitors and staff alike. With a primary facility development goal of maintaining a “healing environment,” BFS developed a mixed-use garden. The program included elements for children, meditation and outdoor space for visitors to the ICU. Use of natural materials, play sculpture and sensory stimulation planting complement the outdoor space with opportunities for privacy and relaxation. Given the wide variety and diverse nature of the intended uses careful space planning was required to provide adequate separation of space to successfully fulfill the program goals in a tight and awkwardly shaped garden.
