Position Description
BFS is looking for a landscape architect with 8-10 years’ continuous experience in a US-based small to medium sized landscape architecture office(s). A strong design focus and the ability to manage projects of various scales from concept through permit packages is required. This client-facing role requires demonstrated leadership qualities and the proven ability to work directly with principals, mentor support staff, and provide effective liaison with consultants and clients. Strong interpersonal skills, creative thinking, problem solving, and a dedication to quality are important aspects of this job.
Skills should include the ability to make effective presentations to clients and manage project documentation packages within available budgets and schedules. The candidate is expected to be proficient in Construction Administration and with knowledge of the construction process and field experience sufficient to coordinate projects with contractors. Experience with cost estimates and CSI technical specifications is a plus. Proficiency with AutoCAD Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite is required. Driving to project sites and meetings is expected. California landscape licensure is preferred; if from another state, then gaining reciprocity licensure will be required.
Production skills must include experience with design detailing and extensive production of construction documents with the ability to adapt to new standards. A passion for planting design should be evident in materials presented. Knowledge of California native plants is a plus.
