This award-winning project, a joint effort of the City of Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency, provides recycled water to farmers throughout North Monterey and South Santa Cruz counties.
Central components in the Water Resources Center’s site development include stormwater management and integration of bio-swales and infiltration swales into the overall landscape. These elements form the basis for an interpretive, educational component running throughout the project. An efficient drip-irrigation system uses recycled water for plant establishment. The project strives to create an ecologically diverse extension to the Pajaro River Corridor along with a plant palette found in similar natural coastal terrace ecosystems.
