Most likely the last hotel to be built on Cannery Row, The Clement Monterey’s architecture and outdoor spaces reflect the area’s historic industrial past, taking advantage of sweeping vistas of Monterey Bay. BFS Landscape Architects provided site design and construction documents for all public and private outdoor spaces, including the cafe, boardwalk, meeting terrace, pool deck and auto turnaround; the pool and adjacent deck were constructed over habitable space. BFS assisted the owner with architectural review approvals and coordination with an adjacent property owner. Most of the public access spaces are over a substructure, requiring structural waterproofing coordination for drawings, planting and subsurface utilities.
