RYAN RANCH OUTPATIENT CAMPUS
On this 21-acre site, BFS Landscape Architects led the design team through the master planning and entitlement phase of the project and then assumed the lead role during detailed site design for the phase one project, collaborating with Gordon Chong Architects. Phase one included a 42,000-square-foot medical office building and 40,000-square-foot sleep clinic with ancillary office space. The buildings and parking were carefully sited to minimize tree loss and fit with the natural topography of the site.
With the phase one design team, BFS established the landscape character for the entire campus. The Ryan Ranch Medical Campus is a contemporary landscape and site design that works closely with the clean modern lines of the architecture. The landscape incorporates bioswales to capture and retain stormwater runoff. River rock is used as both an aesthetic and functional element at the core of each swale. A variety of grasses accentuate the meandering river rock and are part of a native plant palette. Relocation of 75 mature oak trees, bioswales and extensive native grasses enhanced site preservation goals.
