Deran Koligian Stadium Fresno, California

DERAN KOLIGAN STADIUM

In 2005, BFS Landscape Architects and DMA Sports Group planned and designed the stadium’s synthetic surface. The field wore well, but when replacement was necessary after about 10 years, the school district returned to BFS to do the job.

The new turf system is an acknowledged winner in overall design and performance. Originally developed for the City of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department by DMA Sports, the system simplifies the turf concept by removing the need for infill materials—avoiding the controversial SBR tire rubber and expensive alternatives. The turf matrix contains the workhorse yarns of the industry and a product called Zeolite to provide hydration. The system passes 2-Star level FIFA performance protocol for synthetic turf.
