With limited funding and a tight timeline, the conversion of the City of Monterey’s community ballfield infield to synthetic surfacing became a successful exercise in community-municipality partnerships. Since the field is also the practice and game day field for the Monterey High School baseball team, the coach was active in securing funds from private donors and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. This funding along with Monterey Neighborhood Improvement Program funding support, allowed the project to move forward in time for baseball season practice. BFS Landscape Architects prepared the plans and specifications.
