Emerson’s synthetic turf conversion project was already under construction when the Los Angeles Unified School District retained BFS Landscape Architects to replace the previously specified synthetic surfacing. BFS suggested an alternative system that would be more affordable and reduce the possibility of environmental and health concerns. BFS also simplified and improved the drainage design at Emerson Middle School. These efforts resulted in a net zero dollar value change to Emerson’s original turf contract amount.
