With limited funding and a very tight timeline, starting in the Fall of 2012, BFS Landscape Architects was retained by the City of Monterey to prepare plans and specifications to convert their community ball field infield to synthetic surfacing.
The field is also the practice and game day field for the Monterey High School Baseball Team. The Coach actively secured funding from private donors and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. This funding along with funding from the Monterey Neighborhood Improvement Program allowed the project to move forward in time for baseball season practice. The entire process was a successful exercise in community‑municipality partnerships.
In the Spring of 2016, the City engaged with BFS to convert the outfield to synthetic surfacing.
