Working closely with the Director of Facilities, Valley Precision Grading, and Astroturf, BFS Landscape Architects prepared construction documents for the design-build project to resurface the track and convert the natural grass field to synthetic turf. The redesign of the Bob Mathias Stadium included retrofitting the irrigation around the north end of the track and around the new jump pit location at the south end. BFS prepared documents to obtain DSA approval for conversion of the field to an all-weather surfacing.
The facilities department was able to self-perform some of the demolition and field event work to help reduce costs and aid in scheduling. Plans were prepared in May 2017, and the project was completed by the end of August for the first game.
